INFJ (Ni + Fe): Natural Writers for Some Reason?
Is the INFJ personality type the most likely to enjoy writing? Let’s explore the MBTI INFJ type’s inclination to words along with a potential hidden talent for blogging in this article.
Something I have noticed lately, as a more conscious consumer of content online was that many of the creators I followed tend to be Intuitives and many are other NF Idealist personality types or specifically -NFJ personality types (the INFJs + ENFJs).
I’ll take you on a little personal reflection… A trend I notice amongst -NFJs is their discussion of sense of consciousness. They often use different words, but usually mean the same thing across culture and across age. (Words such as “God,” “Source,” or “the Universe.”) They are attracted the wisdom of what is timeless and echoed amongst their lifespan.
ENFJs are particularly good at being these sheppards of information to the rest of the tribe. The wisest people I’ve known have been the ENFJ personality type, and I notice that drive develop very young in little ENFJs. (One of my childhood best friends is one & he continues to exude such honorable dedication to this day!)
Intuitive Consciousness
Consciousness seems to be an area of interest mutually in Idealists and among the NT Rationals. Therefore, the sensing personality types are less inclined to be interesting in such such discussions about consciousness.
This is the feeling I get from David Keirsey’s writings on the 4 temperaments on personality types. I have been exploring David Keirsey’s book “Please Understand Me II” for the past few months in my spare time. (which unfortunately hasn’t been much amongst caretaking for 2 young babies + moving to a new house + sleep deprivation)
Becoming a parent as an INFJ was a whole new lens to see life through, and I have an even greater sense of appreciation for consciousness in seeing it form/express itself right before my eyes in my young children.
It’s been a pleasure to appreciate my son’s unique gifts in his early age. I am very grateful to then book “Do What You Are“, which is an MBTI book that outlines the life development of consciousness for each of the 16 MBTI personality types. I highly recommend it if you are a parent and understand MBTI personality psychology!
It’s notable that the intuitives find the most pleasure in the sharing of information in an efficient manner, making the internet a very fun activity in its self. Complete freedom to answer curiosity at a leisurely distance. A focus on ideas driven by the sharing images of meaning and discrete language.
Another thing I notice is that A LOT of writers online have no idea that they are intuitive, but immediately understand the concept amongst initial introduction. I ask around a lot in the comment sections of creators I follow…
MBTI is a fun community of thought. It never ceases to amaze me that my blog continues to receive over 25,000+ monthly visits. It has been the most fun creation to openly publish and totally beats my stack of journals filled with notes and random sporadic topics I’ve written about.
Why Intuitives Might REALLY Enjoy Blogging
Here are 3 reasons to consider blogging (online publishing) if you are an Introverted Intuitive, an INFJ personality type specifically, and/or someone who desires to build streams of passive income online…
In short:
- Blogging can be faceless + done in your leisurely free time
- Blogging is an outlet for creativity, especially for the introverted intuitive
- There are SO MANY WAYS to build passive streams of income online!
Alright, I’ll expatiate on each of these points now.
1 – Blogging (Writing Online) Can Be More Low Risk + Discrete + Faceless!
A lot of people desire to share their knowledge online. You’ll notice that if you start talking to people about what they’re actually passionate about. More on this in the second section.
However, the hold up often is the fear of having your real identity tied to your content. For good reason. The internet is open to EVERYBODY in the whole entire world. There is ZERO guarantee that a crazy person won’t do something unthinkable with your personal information.
There’s a trend online of content creators now blocking out their children’s faces. Children, without the ability to consent, should NOT be content because who knows what happens to all of that data you put out there. If you’re a parent, you understand the strong desire to keep your family safe. You would do anything to protect them + keep them out of harm’s way.
Another thing you will notice, if you start listening to content creators who have been in the arena of content creation for a while, is that they will often wish that they built a brand instead of using their real identity tied to their personal brand.
One example is the content creator Dan Koe, who talks about the crazy experiences he has had with stalkers, such as a crazy woman who claimed he was her “twin flame” as well as inappropriate messages he got when he posted a picture with his sister.
Blogging solves these issues largely by allowing you the ability to publish without the attachment to your face or your personal identity. Reflect on the articles you read, often you probably have no idea what the writer even looks like! Especially if you publish on a platform like Pinterest, where over 90% of the content is BRANDLESS and Pinterest users often prefer it that way!
My website’s traffic is most driven from Pinterest, where my brand gets over 1 MILLION monthly impressions. It’s a total machine that runs on its own, even while I haven’t published anything in months… Sorry, I’ve been hanging on for dear life while trying to make it through the roughest parts of 2 under 2. (I see the light & soon, I won’t be so sleep deprived, hopefully…)
Anyways, let’s move on to the next reason why introverts might really enjoy writing online…
2 – Publishing online allows creative expression of your unheard intuitive thoughts
Most people online who appreciate MBTI are usually intuitives. Why is that?
My guess is because intuitives are the ones who seek out an explanation of why they’re different from most people. Depending on the MBTI statistics you look at, sensors are notably a majority (70-75%) of the population. From a young age, intuitives are forced to figure out how to “fit in” and converse with sensing personality types.
The dilemma there is that means that intuitives usually are forced to speak about things they don’t particularly favor, while suppressing their natural interests.
In Isabel Myers “Gifts Differing” book, she mentions that in romantic compatibility, the matching of preference for perception (either sensing or intuition) is the MOST IMPORTANT in determining successful compatibility. I notice that to be true in my own experiences dating as well as often in the relationships I observe around me.
To explain why that is, I believe that it primarily has to do with the opportunity to connect. As a means to drive intimacy and meaningful connection, conversation is often the most used tool we often have available. Intuitives and sensors like to talk about vastly different topics a majority of the time.
Though anyone can easily “visit” the other areas of discussion, every person has clear preferences.
Intuitives love exploring ideas, while sensors love discussing concrete topics.
So anyways, if you’re an intuitive and additionally if you’re an introvert, I want you to realize that your deepest, coolest, and most intriguing thoughts might never be heard, expressed, or possibly appreciated unless you create an opportunity for them to be.
Blogging is the perfect opportunity for you to do that in a way that you can attract like-minded individuals who want to hear about the topics you’re interested in writing about. You accomplish that by Keyword Research that is platform-dependent. I’ll write more articles about choosing a platform soon… 🙂
For now, you can start with getting your thoughts and notes organized. I like to use Google Docs to have online cloud access to all my stuff.
On to the last point…
3 – You can build online streams of passive income through blogging
Blogging is basically building a home for all of your online content. Your website houses articles and products.
Content comes down to primarily two goals, though it does many things. You need to formulate a way to create a mix of content that attracts along with content that nurtures your audience.
Then the possibilities to monetize are sort of endless. The best part is that you can keep building up more streams of income, then double down on what’s working. It’s a little machine of ingenuity and that’s why everyone is attracted to content creation.
You can earn money for sharing your expertise and thoughts, if they’re actually worth consuming that is.
You kind of won’t know until you actually test it out in the market, and you might be humbled any way.
I’ll share with you how I monetized my blog in its first year:
- ADS My main goal originally was to monetize via display ads on my personality psychology blog. (this was that you are reading) My goal was to partner with the ad network Mediavine, as the bloggers I followed all recommended that over Google Ads, Ezoic, etc. Their requirements were 25,000+ monthly sessions. When I reached that, they unfortunately increased the requirement to 50,000+ monthly sessions. Luckily, a few months later they released Grow with Journey via Mediavine, and my blog got approved to finally get monetized via display ads. Now it earns money for me passively when any visitors view my website.
- DIGITAL PRODUCTS Another way I monetized my blog was by offering a digital product. I only have one that took me a few weeks to create, but it brings in sales from my website digitally as well as via Amazon KDP sales. It’s the greatest pleasure to have created and shared. I absolutely loved it in its entirety and look forward to creating more digital products like it. You can find it in my online store or on Amazon!
- SERVICES Lastly, I offered services like Personality Typing Sessions + online coaching + website building to one-on-one clients. I currently am not able to offer these more time-intensive services, but will return to offering them in the future when my children are older!
The thing about making money online is that the sky truly is the limit. I’m pretty happy with what I was able to do in my limited spare time the last year when I started exploring making money online via this site. I plan to do more, with better organization…
What’s Coming Next
I’ll be starting a second blog in the sewing niche and documenting my journey here to build up that blog to also be a passive income stream for me.
If you’re interested in making your own website, publishing content/articles online, and building an online passive income stream… stick around & check out my YouTube channel for tutorials!
I’m settling in to our new house and for the first time in two years, I will have my own desk space finally to be able to sit down and create more.
If you’re a creative, I hope that you make the space + time for yourself to create too.
Until next time, take care!!
With much love, Lizz. 🙂
